Brief

What client do and his target audience

Zappa is a specialty coffee shop with a strong personality — named after the legendary Frank Zappa, it sits at the intersection of great coffee and counterculture. Our customers are creatives, musicians, freelancers, and coffee nerds who are tired of generic café aesthetics. We're not Starbucks. We're the place where the barista knows your name and has strong opinions about single-origin beans. We have one location now, with plans to expand to three cities in the next two years.

Visual style

We want a logo that has character — something that could work on a paper cup, a tote bag, and a neon sign equally well. Vintage and bold works. So does something more minimal and typographic if it has edge. We're open to illustration elements but nothing too literal (no coffee cups, no beans, no steam). Think identity, not clipart. Black and white first — color as a secondary layer. The name "Zappa" should be the hero.

Contest deliverables

Deliver final logo in PNG (transparent background) and SVG. Include at minimum: primary logo, one lockup variation, and a mockup on a cup or bag. Brand guidelines page is a strong plus. Source file in Figma or Illustrator required. Check with the client on font licensing before final submission.

Ciao! I'm Marco, a brand identity designer with 10 years of experience working with restaurants, cafés, and lifestyle brands across Italy and beyond. I'm obsessed with typography and the idea that a great logo should work on a napkin as well as a billboard. I bring warmth and craftsmanship to every project — no templates, no shortcuts. If your brand has a story, I'll help you tell it visually.
